Early Life and Education

He began his primary education at Emo-Akpo Primary School (1997–2003), where he obtained his Primary School Leaving Certificate. In September 2003, he enrolled at Emo-Akpo Secondary School, Kokori, and by 2006, he was among the few students who successfully passed the Junior Secondary School Certificate Examination (JSSCE) under the administration of Dr. Veronica Ogbuago, then Delta State Commissioner for Education.

Motivated by the academic standards of Suprema Academy, Kokori Inland, he transferred there for two years—an experience that strengthened his academic foundation. He later completed his Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) at Agbon Secondary School, Isiokolo, in 2009.

Tertiary Education

In 2011, Dr. Otejiri gained admission to the University of Benin (UNIBEN) to study Pharmacy. His academic excellence culminated in the award of both Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) and Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) degrees in 2017. He was officially inducted as a Pharmacist on November 11, 2017.

During his undergraduate studies, his exceptional final-year project earned him international recognition. In 2017, he presented his research at the West African Society of Pharmacologists (WASP) conference at Université d’Abomey-Calavi, Benin Republic, where he became a registered member. He was later invited to present globally in Japan but was unable to attend due to national challenges. This experience deepened his sense of patriotism and commitment to solving Nigeria’s systemic problems.

Between November 2017 and October 2018, Dr. Otejiri completed the one-year Pharmacy Internship Program prescribed by the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) at the University of Benin. Notably, he carried out this internship without remuneration, exemplifying his strong sense of patriotism and service.

After his internship, he developed a keen interest in agriculture, which would later open a new and successful chapter in his life. He went on to establish a farm, get married, and welcome his first child before proceeding for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program.

During his NYSC posting at Cottage Hospital, Akemplai, in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, he made remarkable contributions to healthcare delivery. His dedication and excellence left a lasting impression on the community.

Balancing his passion for community pharmacy and agriculture, Dr. Otejiri has continued to practice pharmacy while promoting agricultural entrepreneurship.

His active participation in the Kokori Students’ Union (KSU) earned him election as Public Relations Officer, a position he executed with distinction. Under the administration of Comrade Itedjere Ufuoma, he chaired the KSU Committee on Quiz Competitions and initiated a community project to renovate and repaint the Kokori Town Hall—an achievement still celebrated today.

Through the Ethiope East Integrated Youth Movement, he led numerous community development projects, including sanitation exercises, quiz and essay competitions, leadership training, and anti-drug abuse campaigns.

Student Leadership and Advocacy

As a pharmacy student, Dr. Otejiri was one of the first three students in his class to serve as Congress Members of the Pharmaceutical Association of Nigeria Students (PANS). This opportunity exposed him to legislative processes, including a visit to the Edo State House of Assembly to observe parliamentary proceedings.

His strong connection to his Urhobo heritage was evident in his active roles within the National Union of Urhobo Students (NUUS), UNIBEN-UBTH Chapter. He served as a Publicity Committee Member, later becoming the Spokesperson (Otota) of the association. In recognition of his outstanding contributions, he was honored as Best Olorogun (Campus Chief) among 23 peers.
